“This is a ground-breaking accomplishment for Clubs from Kansas and Missouri to partner in developing youth soccer in the KC Metro Area,” said Peter Vermes, Technical Director Blue Valley Soccer Club. “With the strong name recognition of both our Club teams, we expect this tournament to quickly become a region-wide event for years to come.”
“Metro Sports Youth brings a unique television experience to our tournament which has rarely been done in this area,” said Chris Travalent, President of the KC Select Soccer Club. “The partnership between Blue Valley and KC Select brings together some of the best player talent and organizational experience from both sides of the state-line.”
Founded in 1977, the Blue Valley Soccer Club (BVSC) is one of the largest clubs in the Midwest region of the United States, supporting soccer programming for over 5,400 children. BVSC has over 300 Recreational Teams and 72 STARS teams. BVSC offers professional coaches to the STARS teams and professional trainers for the recreational players 2nd grade and above. In addition, BVSC offers programming which includes Academies, Camps, Coaching Education and Speed, Agility, Strength & Conditioning Training through its association with the Centers for Athletic Performance, (CAP).
Founded in 2005, the KC Select Soccer Club has grown from 10 teams to 55 competitive youth teams located in Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs, Independence and Liberty. KC Select has won more Missouri State Cup Championships (3 teams) and had more Finalists (7 teams) than any other Club on the Missouri side of the KC Metro Area. KC Select’s core values center around Family, Education and Soccer Excellence. These values are reinforced in their programs which consist of Individual Skills Academies, Team-based Training and Summer Camps.
Metro Sports Youth is the youth division of the Kansas City division of Time Warner Cable. Metro Sports is Kansas City's 24-hour all-sports television network. It's shown on Time Warner Cable (Ch 30), Comcast (Ch44 – MO, Ch 68 – KS) and Sunflower Cable (Ch 37) systems in the greater Kansas City area. Metro Sports features live and taped telecasts of sporting events, studio shows, original documentary-style programs, blocks of ESPNEWS, and other local sports programming.
